What is Matrix-Zero?

Matrix-Zero, launched by Kunlun Wanwei, is a world model comprising two sub-models: a large-scale 3D scene generation model and an interactive video generation model. Matrix-Zero transforms user-input images into freely explorable, realistic 3D scenes, supporting different image styles and style transfer, and boasts features such as global consistency and dynamic scene generation. Matrix-Zero's interactive video generation model is user-input centered, supporting precise control of viewpoint and motion trajectory, providing a smooth interactive experience. The Matrix-Zero world model is expected to launch in April, further empowering AI game production, AI short drama production and editing, and providing users and developers with a new platform and tools.

Main functions of Matrix-Zero

  • 3D scene generation:
    • Global consistencyThe generated 3D scene remains consistent when viewed from 360 degrees or explored over long distances, without any inconsistencies.
    • Style transferIt supports inputting images of different styles (such as realistic and cartoon) and allows for style switching.
    • Dynamic effectsThe generated scene includes dynamic physical effects, such as lighting, water flow, and clouds, which conform to real physical laws.
    • Extensive explorationUsers can explore long distances in any direction within the generated scene, with support for switching between multiple perspectives.
  • Interactive video generation:
    • Real-time interactionUsers can control the viewpoint and motion trajectory of video content using devices such as keyboards and mice.
    • Precise controlIt includes discrete motion control (such as forward, backward, and jump) and continuous view control (such as view change and direction adjustment).
    • Location trackingBased on three-dimensional spatial positioning technology, it ensures the naturalness and continuity of viewpoint movement.
    • Sliding window mechanismIncorporate historical input information to optimize the smoothness and responsiveness of the interaction.

The technical principles of Matrix-Zero

  • Principles of 3D Scene Generation Technology:
    • Microrable renderingIt supports models in using backpropagation to learn how to generate the geometry of a 3D scene from an input image. Through differentiable rendering, the model optimizes the generated 3D scene to maintain visual consistency with the input image, ensuring global consistency and physical plausibility of the scene.
    • diffusion modelThis process gradually removes noise from generated data (such as images or 3D scenes), progressively recovering the target content from the noise during the generation process. It is used to generate high-quality 3D scene layouts and textures, ensuring that the generated scene conforms to the characteristics of the input image in both detail and overall structure.
    • Geometry generation module and texture generation module:
      • Geometry generation module: Uses differentiable rendering and diffusion modeling techniques to generate a 3D scene layout that matches the input image.
      • Texture generation module: Based on image generation model and video generation model training, it performs geometric and texture completion on missing areas of the scene in real time to ensure that users can see a reasonable and consistent scene from any position and angle.
    • Dynamic effects generationIt simulates the dynamic changes of physical laws (such as light, water flow, clouds, etc.) to generate dynamic scenes that conform to real physical laws. This makes the generated 3D scenes more realistic and enhances immersion.
  • Interactive video generation technology principles:
    • Multimodal interaction technologyThis feature combines user input (such as keyboard and mouse operations) with a generated model to enable real-time interactive control of video content. Users can adjust the video content in real time with simple operations (such as forward, backward, and perspective switching), enhancing the interactive experience.
    • Discrete motion control and continuous view control:
      • Discrete Motion Control ModuleIt analyzes discrete control signals input by the user (such as forward, jump, and backward) and converts them into motion trajectories, thus influencing the behavior of objects in the video.
      • Continuous View Control Module: Analyze continuous control signals (such as viewpoint changes and direction adjustments) from the mouse or other input devices to ensure the smoothness and consistency of viewpoint changes.
    • 3D scene position trackingBased on 3D spatial positioning technology, it tracks the user's position and viewpoint changes in the scene in real time. This ensures positional stability during viewpoint movement, reduces screen jumps, and makes video content more coherent.
    • Sliding window mechanismBy incorporating historical input information from time series, we can predict the user's next action and optimize the smoothness of control response. This improves the fluency of interaction, reduces input latency, and enhances the user experience.
    • Reinforcement learning and optimizationBased on reinforcement learning algorithms, the model can continuously optimize the generated results, making them more consistent with the user's interaction intentions and physical laws. This improves the quality of generated content and the naturalness of interaction, ensuring that the generated 3D scenes and videos maintain consistency and rationality during dynamic changes.
