What is XMusic?

XMusic is an AI-powered universal music framework independently developed by Tencent Multimedia Lab. Users only need to upload any content such as videos, images, text, tags, or humming, and XMusic can generate high-quality music with controllable emotions, styles, and rhythms. Based on self-developed multimodal and sequence modeling technologies, it can parse the content of prompt words into a symbolic musical element space, using this as a control condition to guide the model to generate rich, accurate, and pleasing music, meeting commercial-grade music generation requirements. XMusic is suitable for video editing and background music, music selection for shopping malls and venues, as well as interactive entertainment, assisted creation, music education, music therapy, and many other scenarios. It can significantly lower the threshold for music creation, enabling AI-assisted creation anytime, anywhere, and creating a personal "portable music library."

  • Core FrameworkThe Transformers algorithm framework, based on local deployment, has powerful natural language processing and cross-modal learning capabilities, providing a solid foundation for music generation.
  • Core components:
    • XProjectorIt resolves various forms of cues (such as images, videos, text, tags, and humming) into symbolic musical elements (such as emotion, genre, rhythm, and notes) and generates matching music within the projection space.
    • XComposerIt includes a generator and a selector. The generator produces melodious music with controllable emotions based on innovative symbolic music representation; the selector identifies high-quality symbolic music by constructing a multi-task learning scheme involving quality assessment, emotion recognition, and genre identification.
  • Operating mechanismThe process is divided into three stages: parsing, generation, and filtering. The parsing stage, based on natural language processing and image recognition technology, analyzes the prompts input by the user and maps them to the symbolic musical element projection space. In the generation stage, the generator maps musical elements to symbolic musical representation sequences, and the decoder generates matching musical melodies and rhythms based on these representation sequences. In the filtering stage, the filter evaluates the quality of the generated batch of music and selects the music of the highest quality that best meets the user's needs.
