Seedance 2.0 Mini is a cost-effective and lightweight video generation model launched by ByteDance's Volcano Engine. While retaining the core multimodal reference generation capabilities, the model reduces generation costs by approximately 50% and increases speed to twice that of Seedance 2.0 Fast, primarily targeting rapid batch production of creative videos, short videos, and early-stage project drafts.

  • Dual-branch parallel generation architectureThe video generation process is split into two independent branches: "Content Generation" and "Rendering Optimization," which run in parallel. The Content Generation branch is responsible for building core visuals, plot logic, and basic elements; the Rendering Optimization branch focuses on refining visual details, color calibration, and format adaptation. The two branches process synchronously, breaking the efficiency limitations of traditional sequential generation, shortening the overall generation time, and improving the matching degree between the script and the visuals.
  • Unified Multimodal Joint TrainingThis approach places text, image, audio, and video modalities in the same representation space for joint training and inference, establishing cross-modal semantic mapping relationships through contrastive learning. The model doesn't simply piece together information from different modalities; instead, it truly understands the intrinsic connections between prompts, plot details, reference image composition, demonstration video camera movement, and audio rhythm, achieving deep fusion and precise alignment of multimodal inputs.
  • Lightweight distillation and model compressionAs a mini version, it uses knowledge distillation technology to transfer the core generation capabilities of large models to lightweight small models. At the same time, it combines structured pruning to remove redundant parameters and quantization compression to convert high-precision parameters to low-precision formats, compressing the model size to 1/5–1/10 of the original, increasing inference speed by 2 times, and reducing computing power consumption by about 40%. It achieves a balance between cost and efficiency while retaining core image quality and creative capabilities.

How to use Seedance 2.0 Mini

Currently, it is only supported for use in Little Lark and Jimeng AI, or for experience in the Volcano Ark Large Model Experience Center. The API will be open on June 22. The current price in the Volcano Ark Large Model Experience Center is 0.023 yuan/thousand tokens.
