What is Seed GR-3?

Seed GR-3 is a general-purpose robot model launched by ByteDance's Seed team. It boasts high generalization capabilities, long-range task processing capabilities, and flexible object manipulation capabilities. Seed GR-3 integrates a "brain" of vision, language, and motion information, a three-in-one data training method (robot data, VR human trajectory data, and publicly available text and image data), and a customized flexible "body," ByteMini, enabling it to understand and execute new objects, new environments, and complex commands. GR-3 performs exceptionally well in long-sequence tasks, dual-arm collaborative operation, and flexible object manipulation, representing a significant step towards a general-purpose robot "brain."

Technical principles of Seed GR-3

  • Fusion BrainThe Mixture-of-Transformers (MoT) network architecture combines the vision-language module and the action generation module to form an end-to-end model with 4 billion parameters. The action generation module uses Diffusion Transformer (DiT) to generate actions based on Flow-Matching.
  • Three-in-one data training method:
    • Robot DataHigh-quality robot motion trajectories are collected based on teleoperation.
    • VR Human Trajectory DataUsing VR devices to collect human operational trajectories can improve learning efficiency.
    • Publicly available image and text dataEnhance the model's ability to understand new objects and abstract concepts using large-scale visual-linguistic data.
  • Customized bodyPaired with the ByteMini robot, it has 22 degrees of freedom, supports highly flexible operation, and is suitable for confined spaces and delicate tasks.
