PromptFix is an open-source AI image restoration tool from Microsoft. Based on diffusion model technology, it can process damaged images and remove unwanted elements according to user instructions. PromptFix supports a variety of image processing tasks, including colorization, object removal, dehazing, deblurring, watermark removal, snow removal, and low-light image enhancement. PromptFix uses a 20-step denoising process to effectively correct image defects while preserving the original image structure. PromptFix can adapt to images with different aspect ratios and has excellent generalization capabilities.

The technical principle of PromptFix
- diffusion modelThe diffusion model transforms data into noise by progressively adding Gaussian noise, and then reconstructs the data from the noise. PromptFix is based on this principle, using predicted noise patterns to progressively restore a clear image.
- High-frequency guided samplingTo preserve high-frequency details in images, PromptFix introduces a high-frequency guided sampling method. Fidelity constraints are calculated using a low-pass filter and VAE skip connection features to ensure that high-frequency details are preserved during denoising.
- Auxiliary Prompting AdapterPromptFix is a design-based assistive prompt adapter that enhances text prompts based on Visual Language Models (VLMs), providing richer semantic information and improving the model's understanding and execution of complex instructions.
