What is Project Genie?
Project Genie is an experimental AI world model prototype from Google DeepMind, powered by Genie 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Gemini technologies. Users can create virtual worlds using text prompts or uploaded images, with Genie 3 rendering interactive environments in real time. Project Genie supports first-person and third-person perspectives and allows exploration by walking, cycling, flying, or driving, with the system instantly generating the scene ahead as the user moves. Currently, it is only available to US Google AI Ultra subscribers (aged 18 and older).
Project Genie's main functions
- World sketchingEnter text or upload images to create a world, preview and adjust the effect using Nano Banana Pro, and enter after selecting a first-person or third-person perspective.
- World ExplorationIt supports controlling the character to move in the environment. The system will generate the scene in front in real time, and the camera angle can be adjusted at any time.
- World RemixIt supports browsing other people's works in the gallery to get inspiration, modifying prompts to recreate, or randomly generating new worlds, and finally downloading exploration videos.
How to use Project Genie
- Visit the official websiteVisit the Project Genie website https://labs.google/projectgenie and click the "Explore now" button to enter (Google AI Ultra subscription required).
- Create the worldEnter a world description (such as "cyberpunk city") in the text box, or upload a reference image, and click to generate a preview.
- Adjust previewNano Banana Pro generates a static preview image, which users can modify until they are satisfied.
- Choose a perspectiveIn the preview interface, select either first-person or third-person perspective to determine the character's observation method.
- Enter the explorationClick to confirm and enter the real-time generated world. Use the keyboard/mouse to control your character's movement.
- Real-time roamingWhen walking, flying, or driving, Genie 3 renders the scene in front of you in real time as you move.
- Adjusting the lensDuring the exploration, you can zoom or rotate the viewpoint at any time to adjust the observation angle.
- Remix CreationReturn to the gallery, select other people's works, modify the original prompts to generate a new version, or click the random button to get inspiration.
- Save and shareAfter completing the exploration, click the download button to save the world video to your local device.
Application scenarios of Project Genie
- Creative EntertainmentGame developers can quickly generate prototypes of virtual worlds, and players can create and explore personalized interactive scenarios.
- Film and animationDirectors and artists can use previews to visualize scenes and generate concept environments, reducing pre-production costs.
- Architectural DesignArchitects can allow clients to wander through the space before it is built, and intuitively feel the layout and atmosphere.
- Education and TrainingTeachers can recreate historical scenes or scientific phenomena to allow students to conduct virtual investigations in an immersive way.
- Robotics ResearchResearchers can generate diverse physical environments, providing an unlimited range of test scenarios for training intelligent agents.
