What is Piece it Together?

Piece it Together (PiT) is an innovative image generation framework developed by Bria AI and other institutions, specifically designed to generate complete concept images from fragmented visual components. Based on domain-specific prior knowledge, it seamlessly integrates fragmented visual elements provided by the user into a coherent whole, intelligently filling in missing parts to generate complete and creative concept images. Piece it Together utilizes the IP+ space of IP-Adapter+ and trains a lightweight flow matching model, IP-Prior, to achieve high-quality reconstruction and semantic manipulation. Based on a LoRA fine-tuning strategy, Piece it Together significantly improves text compliance, better adapts to different scenarios, and provides powerful support for creative design and concept exploration.

The technical principle of Piece it Together

  • IP+ SpaceThe internal representation space based on IP-Adapter+ (IP+ space) performs better than the traditional CLIP space in preserving complex concepts and details, supports semantic operations, and provides a foundation for high-quality image reconstruction and concept editing.
  • IP-Prior ModelThe project trains a lightweight flow matching model, IP-Prior, which generates a complete concept image based on partial visual components of the input, leveraging prior knowledge from a specific domain. It dynamically adapts to user input by learning the distribution of the target domain, thus generating missing parts.
  • Data generation and trainingTraining data is generated using pre-trained text-to-image models such as FLUX-Schnell, with random adjectives and categories added to enhance data diversity. Semantic components of the target image are extracted using segmentation methods to form input pairs, which are then used to train the IP-Prior model to solve the target task.
  • LoRA fine-tuning strategyThis approach leverages LoRA-based fine-tuning strategies to improve the text compliance shortcomings of IP-Adapter+. By training the LoRA adapter with a small number of samples, text control is restored, allowing generated concepts to better follow text prompts while maintaining visual fidelity.
