How to use OpenUtau

  • Visit the GitHub Releases page: Go to OpenUtau GitHub Release page.
  • Download the latest version:
    • WindowsDownload the .zip file, extract it, and run OpenUtau.exe.
    • macOSDownload the .dmg file and drag it to the Applications folder.
    • LinuxDownload the .AppImage file, grant it execute permissions, and then run it.
  • Configure audio sourceDownload the UTAU sound library (usually in .zip format) from a reliable source.
  • Import audio sourceOpen OpenUtau, click Tools > Singers in the menu bar. Click Add, select the downloaded audio file folder, and complete the import.
  • Install resampler:
    • Download resamplerCommon resamplers include Moresampler or WORLDLINE-R (built-in).
    • Configure resamplerCopy the downloaded resampler files (such as wavtool.exe and resamp.exe) to the Resamplers folder in OpenUtau. In OpenUtau, configure the default resampler based on Tools > Resamplers.
  • New projectOpen OpenUtau, click File > New to create a new project. Select the audio source and resampler, and set the basic parameters of the project (such as key signature, tempo, etc.).
  • Editing songs:
    • Enter lyricsIn the editing interface, click the Lyrics section and enter the lyrics.
    • Adjust pitchIn the piano roll, adjust the pitch by dragging notes with the mouse.
    • Edit phonemesThe lyrics are converted into a phoneme sequence using a phoneme generator, and the pronunciation and transitions of the phonemes are adjusted based on the phoneme editor.
    • Add vibratoUse the vibrato editor to add vibrato effects to your singing to enhance its expressiveness.
    • Adjust facial expressionsUse the expression panel to adjust parameters such as pitch and intensity based on curves to optimize the singing effect.
  • Preview and Rendering:
    • Live PreviewDuring the editing process, click the play button to preview the rendered song in real time using OpenUtau.
    • Full renderingAfter editing, click the Render button to render the project as an audio file (such as WAV or MP3).
  • Export and ShareAfter rendering is complete, click File > Export, select the export format and save path. Share the exported audio file to social media, music platforms, or with friends.
