MMRole is a multimodal role-playing agent (MRPA) framework developed by the research team at the Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence, Renmin University of China. By combining images and text, it enables agents to engage in more natural and immersive dialogues in specific roles. MMRole includes a large-scale, high-quality multimodal dataset and a comprehensive evaluation method for developing and evaluating the performance of MRPAs. MMRole's technical principles

  • MMRole-DataA large-scale, high-quality multimodal role-playing dataset containing 85 different characters, over 11,000 images, and 14,000 dialogues. Dialogues can be single-turn or multi-turn and revolve around images, designed to train MRPAs for multimodal dialogue.
  • MMRole-EvalA comprehensive evaluation methodology, comprising eight metrics across three dimensions, is used to assess the performance of MRPAs. The metrics cover basic conversational skills, multimodal understanding, and role-playing quality. To quantitatively evaluate MRPAs, the research team developed a specialized reward model that scores MRPAs by comparing their relative performance to a constructed standard answer.
