FoleyCrafter is an AI video dubbing framework jointly developed by the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. FoleyCrafter can automatically detect actions in a video and add perfectly matched sound effects. Whether it's people walking or running, animal sounds, or even environmental sounds like wind and water, FoleyCrafter can intelligently add them, instantly bringing the originally silent video to life. It can also be given prompts, such as "make the volume higher" or "don't make the wind noise," and FoleyCrafter understands and executes them. This technology not only simplifies video production but also makes videos look more realistic and immersive.

- Parallel cross-attention layerThis is a special technique that allows FoleyCrafter to simultaneously focus on visual information and possible textual descriptions in a video, and then decide what kind of sound to generate.
- Time controllerThis section ensures that sound effects appear at the correct timing. Just like a conductor telling the orchestra when to start playing, the timing controller tells FoleyCrafter when to start emitting sound.
- Start detectorThis is a tool within the timing controller that detects when sound should begin in a video. For example, if a ball in a video has just hit the ground, the start detector will know that this is the correct time to emit an impact sound.
- Timestamp adapterThis tool uses information from the start detector to adjust the generation of sound, ensuring that the sound is perfectly synchronized with the actions in the video.
