What is EchoMimicV2?

EchoMimicV2 is a half-body AI digital human project launched by Alibaba's Ant Group. It generates high-quality animated videos based on reference images, audio editing, and hand gesture sequences, ensuring consistency between audio content and half-body movements. Building upon the lifelike head animations generated by its predecessor, EchoMimicV1, EchoMimicV2 further improves upon these capabilities, now generating complete half-body digital human animations with seamless translation from Chinese and English speech to actions. This method employs an audio-pose dynamic coordination strategy, including pose sampling and audio diffusion, to enhance detail and reduce conditional redundancy. EchoMimicV2 integrates head data using head local attention technology and designs specific stages of denoising loss to optimize animation quality.

  • Audio DiffusionThis feature extends the effects of audio conditions from the lips to the entire face and then to the whole body, enhancing the synchronization between audio and animation.
• Head Partial Attention (HPA)Integrate head data during training to enhance facial expression details without the need for additional plugins or modules.
• Phase-specific Denoising Loss (Phase Loss)The denoising process is divided into three stages: pose-driven, detail-driven, and quality-driven, with each stage having specific optimization goals.
• Latent Diffusion Model (LDM)The image is mapped to the latent space using a variational autoencoder (VAE), and noise is gradually added during training to estimate and remove the noise at each time step.
• ReferenceNet-based BackboneThe ReferenceNet is used to extract features from the reference image and inject them into the denoising U-Net to maintain the appearance consistency between the generated image and the reference image.
