Google and retail giants launch Universal Business Protocol (UCP)

Google, in collaboration with retail giants such as Shopify, Walmart, and Target, has launched a new open standard—the Common Commerce Protocol (UCP)—to establish a standardized framework for the entire shopping process using AI agents. The protocol supports agents participating in all stages, from product discovery to after-sales support, enabling collaborative operation between different systems through standardization, and is compatible with Google's previously released protocols for agent payments and connectivity.
