Former Tesla AI director Karpathy launched the open-source project "nanochat," which replicates the entire ChatGPT process with only about 8,000 lines of code. Within 12 hours of its GitHub launch, the project had already garnered over 4.2k stars. Users only need a GPU, about 4 hours of work, and a cost of $100 to train a "mini ChatGPT" capable of writing poetry and answering basic questions.
