Microsoft launches programming model MAI-Code-1.1-Flash

Microsoft has released an upgraded programming model, MAI-Code-1.1-Flash, with significantly improved coding capabilities: the model performs 22% better in Terminal-Bench 2.1 tests, 15% better in .NET tasks, and adds native visual capabilities. The new model also boasts a 25% faster token generation speed, a 25% lower cost, and a price reduced to one-quarter of the original. It is currently available on Copilot platforms such as VS Code and JetBrains, and the older version will be completely discontinued on September 10, 2026.
