SpaceX acquires Cursor for $60 billion

SpaceX announced the acquisition of Anysphere, the parent company of AI programming tool Cursor, in an all-stock transaction for $60 billion. Cursor will become a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX, with the transaction expected to close in Q3 2026. SpaceX recently completed its Nasdaq listing, reaching a market capitalization of $2.5 trillion. Cursor's annual B2B revenue is approximately $2.6 billion. Previously, its underlying models relied on Anthropic and OpenAI, facing the risk of supply disruptions; after the merger, it can use the xAI supercomputing platform to train its own code models.
