Claude Code has added a built-in Concise output style. Boris Cherny, the lead designer, stated that this configuration is a temporary solution to alleviate the issue of lengthy Opus responses, and long-term improvements are still underway.

Claude Code has added a new Concise built-in output style, which can reduce the introduction and description without compromising the integrity of the engineering work.According to the official documentation, this style requires Claude Code v2.1.237 or later. You can select the output style via /config or configure outputStyle in the settings.

Boris Cherny, lead coder at Claude, stated that this streamlined configuration is a temporary solution to alleviate the issue of lengthy Opus responses, and the team is still working on long-term improvements. Changing the output style alters the response method without altering the knowledge the model possesses.
