Anthropic announced a $5 million investment to fund independent research on the impact of AI on user well-being.Selected teams will receive funding, access to their models and technical support, and will release their evaluation results in an open-source manner.
The project focuses on complex scenarios involving dependency, emotional support, and mental health in multi-turn conversations. The application deadline is September 21, 2026, and applicants selected for the full proposal stage will be notified by October 5.
